Although the precise date the company started trading isn’t known, We do know that the 1881 census shows that Ebenezer Hargreaves was working as an iron founder, along with 6 labourers, on this very site at the time. Jump forward nearly 150 years, and we still use the very same casting process (albeit with major improvements in PPE & safety protocols!).
These days, we don't just cast here. We have our own pattern shop, we fettle, we fabricate and we have our own painting facilities.
Although we mostly produce architectural, engineering & art castings (for the likes of SIr Antony Gormley), we pride ourselves as cast iron experts and have manufactured everything from keyrings to 10 tonne machine beds.
Our castings can be found on many of the UK's most prestigious buildings, including Buckingham Palace, The Houses of Parliament & Windsor Castle. Take a look at our Projects page for more on these.
Cast Iron is the perfect material to recycle. It can be used time and time again without ever losing any of it's original properties.
