We made a couple of these for Sir Antony Gormley as a precursor to the Angel being erected in Gateshead in 98.
The body of this sculpture stood at 6’4, modelled on Sir Antony’s own body. The wingspan was just over 17 feet.
The Angel of the North itself is scaled up just slightly over 10 times and stands at 66 feet tall with a wingspan of 177 feet (larger than a Boeing 757 Aircraft).
The steel structure is believed to be the largest sculpture of an Angel in the world, and is viewed be an estimated 33 Million each year due to it’s positioning near the A1 & A167.
